Oda can make a female character interesting but for some reason it seems like he can't utilize them greatly.
Big Mom for example, I think Oda did a really good job creating her character and making her seem very interesting but then he goes around and makes her look like a complete joke all the time.
The only female character that I don't think Oda did a bad job with post timeskip is Ulti, the only thing Oda did bad with her character is ruining her fight against Nami.
Absolutely, he has fantastic ideas for them but such terrible execution now for some reason.
I kinda find it an ironically bittersweet feeling that Luffys mother, Dragons mother, Yamatos mother are still a mystery for now and can't be ruined by him, although 2 of those at least are probably dead even, maybe all 3.
Oda did apparently say mothers are the opposite of adventure or something too. I get the reasoning but kinda harsher with how he treats female characters especially mothers.
Yeah Ulti has been fantastic aside from that. I hope she joins Kidd or Law and I yearn for more info on their past, I'm sure shes had to care of Page One as a pseudo mother figure or at least older sister stepping up.
I used to know a great woman who raised her younger brother for 15 years by herself, before he passed away unexpectedly unfortunately some time after they went their seperate ways in life.
P1 and Ulti kinda make me think of her, how she might have been with him, at least the bigger sister protecting him like how my older cousin sisters used to take care of me too.
That's exactly the issue with BM too, amazing concept, backstory, world building with her territory, so very interesting, unique and horrifying too but current BM is just a Yonko level gag character and hype tool most of the time.
She's killed more of her own family than enemies on screen for example.
