General & Others The But Luffy Problem

#21
Nah i prefer Luffy’s victory to be earned rather than him cheating his way to the top. He’s already teamed up with plenty of people. If he did it again it would be overkill.

How would you guys feel if Zoro had to team up with people just to overcome Mihawk?

There’s no benefit in Luffy becoming Pirate King if he hasn’t properly overcome a Yonko. Simple as that. Y'all just have to deal with it.:luuh:

Btw I'm not saying it is currently a One man show especially this Arc. I just dont get how some people want it to be one.
a lot of people care too much about power levels that they refuse to allow the other straw hats to be relevant. Like saying the nine straw hats will fight Kaido while Luffy recovers is a major taboo here because people talk about how every straw hat not in the M3 is fodder

World building is what make OP interesting
World building has ALWAYS been the main crux of OP; even if Oda’s got a kink for his little rubber boy, he wouldn’t have introduced hundreds of secondary and tertiary characters with at least tenuous connections to the overall storyline if it was meant to be The Monkey D. Luffy Variety Hour every single chapter. I remember seeing people on OJ bitch about the Reverie arc because it was the first time none of the protagonists were present, but at this point, Luffy could awaken his DF and go Gear Fifth to blast a hole in Kaido’s sternum and I’d still be dying to see what’s happening outside of Wano.

saying after this Luffy is at kaido's level is insane mainly because kaido has been weakened by like 17 opponents. Ignoring the damage they dealt and saying this is a proper 1v1 is my point.

Some people read the story as if they are Big News Morgans
17 among those 17, 3 are Luffy
4 SN
Yamato
9 Scabbards

Moreover it's a huge feat to beat that much opponents but 9 are just irrelevant for Kaido
4 SN but only Ashura and an injection shot were really useful
Yamato was just there to stall

I'm happy Oda doesnt think like that cause he gave them fights and moments but if it isnt something massive its treated like it doesn't matter by people.

The problem lies in where it can fit timeline wise. The only place for a fight with Mihawk to occur would be when Luffy fights shanks which is either not happening or happening very soon. This is why Mihawk being defeated is so popular. It hypes Zoros future opponent and allows the fight for Zoro to gain the title to naturally occur in the story rather than shoehorning it in
This 100%

Zoro vs Mihawk unless is if Luffy fights does not fit in the timeline.

My main problem with that idea is shirou is the most popular candidate and it seems agreed upon that it would be by underhanded means. That would mean he never legitimately fought the world strongest creature and I think we assume too much what the timeline is cause honestly Oda doesnt even know.

Luffy is the protagonist but that doesnt mean he should be a one man show.

People seem to want a cap on what everyone besides luffy can do based off of them not being Luffy. Which for me would make a less interesting story.

When Big Mom and the captains were fighting it was no but luffy said he would do it.

Before roof piece happened the idea of Zoro fighting Kaido was looked down upon

People would say no Zoro cant get CoC because that would take away from luffy.

There is this weird fear of luffy being outshined which I find even weirder because when Oda does have a character outshine luffy those moments are some of the best in the series. For example nothing happened or Whitebeards death and him saying the One Piece is real.

I love One Piece and really dont want it to be Luffy and the other guys.the reason I brought this up is I watched a video where the youtuber said that Mihawk vs Zoro can't be an end of series fight because it would take away from Luffy.Basically that Mihawk gets defeated and Zoro avenges him so that it can be wrapped up in the blackbeard fight if its Shiriu or Fujitora with the Marines.
Zoro's sacrifice against Kuma outshined any of Luffy's sacrifice in Thriller Bark, but Zoro didnt win. Luffy's victory against outshined any of Zoro's victory in Thriller Bark, but Luffy didnt sacrifice to the extent that Zoro did.

If its about general final boss of each arc, i do think its only proper for Luffy to defeat the final, strongest arc bosses by himself (not being interfered) since its just his narrative role to "beat you" (the strongest).

But if its about the timing of Zoro vs Mihawk...Rather than fear of Luffy's spotlite being interfered, i personally think its more proper to have Luffy and Zoro already being PK and WSS for them to be worthy opponent against WG.

I agree with everything you just said.

I think Fujitora is the best candidate.
And we do know a few things:

1. Luffy is finding the One Piece in a few arcs
2. Luffy is fighting Imu and the marines after finding the one piece.

What does this post even have to do with that lol
Because the agenda in the OP is that main character Luffy shouldn't be the god savior of every arc.

Even when he gets "outshown" it's to advance his character and those around him.

"Nothing happened" revolved around Zoro's dedication to Luffy. Luffy losing at Marineford was central to him wanting to get stronger. These things still revolve around him.
