The "just re-read it and then you will love it" excuse has never made much sense to me. The only aspects that I can see improving greatly from that are the pacing and not having extended periods of disappointment having to wait for new chapters. Other than that, the terrible things that one doesn't like the first time don't just disappear or become any more enjoyable the second time around.
Just using a point scale for rating, I can see the overall rating of an arc changing by 1 or in the most extreme cases 2 points. So from a 7/10 to an 8/10 and so on. What I cannot see is a substantial change from hate to love. It just doesn't make sense to me for it to be that drastic unless something very strange is going on mentally.
