To go so hard against a character that's very heavily implied to be a member of the crew would only lead to that person hurting themselves in the long run. I speak from experience that during the time that I was trying to justify Yamato not joining it only lead to a lot of stress since she had way too many things going for her. Things got a lot better after accepting the fact that she will most likely join.
Thinking back on it, it's definitely weird to me since there isn't really anything preventing Oda from having 2 members join at the same time other than that he hasn't done it before. Which is one of the reasons why I don't go along with the "one or the other argument." I've found it a lot less stressful to root for both Carrot and Yamato.
It wouldn't even be that farfetched if Oda did it this time around if you consider how Zou was connected to both WCI and Wano, Wano and WCI connected to each other, and the relationship between the minks and the samurai (remember that Yamato wants to be a samurai as well). Carrot is having a bit of a rough go of things right now, but the vibe I get from looking at the big picture from Zou to now is that it's a possibility if the cards play right.
It's just how I see things right now.

You are confusing a strong fanbase and a big one. Carrot was the only worthy candidate so of course there were hype trains on foums about her. But it doesn't mean that this hype was spreaded to the community. In fact the main argument in the fan base at the time was that Jinbe was supposed to be the last strawhat. And trust I know what I'm talking about here, I FOUGHT it on multiple forum and multiple community.
At the time, the Carrot hate (like we can see here) was relatively low. But still.. there was no place for her. Only some reactors (some) , and certains section of forum were spreading the love.
Then came Sulong and instead of having a good impact, I saw hate starting to overflow.
That hate became the main counter argument against Carrot at the very begiining on Wano, at a moment were all the strawhats weren't even there.
Yeah lol.. We have a very strong fan base. 388500 is really nothing when you take into account that each member of the fanbase of Carrot voted each day and that multiple compaign took place with famous people because of the Nakama War.
The reason Yamato lost is only because her fan were desorganised and did not vote continuously. We - on the other hand - did, we made sure of that.
The Carrot fanbase is still very small and will stay that way at least until the end of Wano.
But we are strong.. and we will win at the end

You will find very few Nakama fan who are thinking that way or are anti-Jinbe. Carrot and Jinbe are completementary so they come in pair, it's natural for us.

You got it wrong. Disliking a character is fine. But obsessing negatively (as I can see here most of the time) over a character is a proof of toxic masculinity, all the more when the argument are made to clash a girl doing her best and having a shining moment.
Concerning the virilist stuff, it's not about Carrot it's about liking Yamato. The main reason why fan turn toward Yamato was FIRSTLY because Yamato was introduced as Kaido's son. Then because Yamato is strong. Then, because Yamato clashed against Kaido.
Very few of the Yamato for Nakama arguments are related to her actual personnality. In fact - like I said previously - I have seen a lot of "Yamato fan" trashing the girl because "she was annoying with her Oden personna".

I would be the first to root for Yamato if there was any relevant arguments. People here seems to think that I can't stand her. let's make a thing clear for everyone to see:

Now. Trust me, what I want is more women on the crew. It would be a JOY for me to have Yamato (yeah, even if Carrot don't join)
But there is almost no relevant reasons to think that she will be a strawhat.
In fact that subversion dialogue with Luffy was THE deal breaker argument. There is no way around it. From a Narrative perspective (at least if Oda follows a logical way of writing) Yamato is bound to do the exact opposite of what she said to Luffy and therefore.. what she said to Kaido later on.
What you guyz see as a confirmation, is for me the exact reason why Yamato is a bad candidate.
