Maybe, just maybe it's because Luffy's last two mjor opponents, Doffy and Kata, were awakened. It's perfectly normal to assume Kaido, an even bigger foe, to also have awakening. Not assuming so is against the norm here not otherwise.

Yamao simply doesn't matter to Luffy. She just some random ally. Another X Drake. Luffy's literally beating up HER DAD who has abused her for years, and instead of thinking of her, he's thinking of yung Pedro who sacrificed himself for him. In Luffy's mind, a dead man is more significant to him, than Yamao who is literally right next to him watching this all happen. Lmfao

Idk man the fact that we're this far in and Yamato's been paired up with Momo for the entire arc while none of the Strawhats have even met her isn't a great sign.
Compare that to Franky bonding with Robin and Usopp in Water 7/Enies Lobby and Yamato's chances don't look great

Influencing Kaido's body to become like rubber by touch is bypassing Kaido's Haki similar to what Law and Kidd did to Big Mom with their awakening, but saying that Luffy is not hurt by Kaido is nonsensical. Luffy was hurt many times in this chapter, he just fought through it until he couldn't after Kaido's Ragnaraku.

Don't overdose on the copium bro Kaido will most likely have something up his sleeve awakening is very likely. How do you know mythical zoans don't get new form when they awakened that this is something unique to only luffy.
