Sure, if you ignore that tha novel is also stating that Shanks is tha most secretive of tha Yonko and moves in silence. So it’s pretty easy to guess that most people probably didn’t know how strong he actually was/is.
Also ignoring that tha novel appears to say that they had multiple duels. And each of them made tha Headlines. So either Mihawk is THAT much of a big name that ANYONE who fights him leeches off his name and becomes famous, or Shanks has a big enough name that when they fought. It made tha headlines
It’s going to be funny that when Luffy beats Kaidou. And Kaidou fails to put down a Green pirate. His rep/strength won’t get questioned. But Mibawks will lmfao. I mean it’s not like Linlin failed to put down a green pirate in Luffy right....

Or maybe it was big news because Mihawk was established and somebody unfamiliar came along and gave Mihawk a run for his money and the big shot couldn’t put this guy down. Kinda similar to how Luffy taking down Crocodile was a big deal, and would have been bigger if it hadn’t been suppressed.

You would think the way that you’re talking that shanks is the Wss with the black blade and not the other way around. Guess I have to explain oda word to you guys once again shanks is a swordsman yonko he is not the Wss. It’s a simple concept that you can grasp quickly as soon as you get off shanks nuts
we dont know the outcome of the duel but oda named mihawk the wss and not shanks meaning at the very least shanks didnt manage to beat him. mihawk calling him a hasbeen doesnt fair well in oekaneki's argument. shanks could have had the potential to be a lot stronger if he had two but he sacrificed that for luffy. sooner or later yall might have to accept that a man with one arm, who's rival is a swordsman, who grabs his sword when he's angry is probably a swordsman lmao.
shanks fighting other yonkos never came to anyone's mind eh.
yonko system isnt done after wano. implication I got from this is that if indeed kaido or kaido and bm got taken down. another emperor will rise in their stead. no doubt its prob luffy who was already called a pseudo one last arc. with an alliance of 5600 men.
men like zoro , sanji jinbei
and commanders like cavendish , barto , sai
No doubt all the places he has saved will take on his flag.

Ah yes, so Shsnks was jus wildin. Then when he became a Yonko he said “aight time to move in silence and watch my moves. Even tho I’ve been doing my thing and been a pirate for over 2 decades. Time to change now”
