He was emperor level in base form the moment the sky split. Kaido needed hybrid to compete with base(no gears) form luffy.

Think about it, Big Mom and Kaido were im base form.clashing and kaido needed hybrid to clash with base Luffy.

The fight is certainly nearing its end, another 2-3 chapters at most if it's not interrupted by other scenes or flashbacks (though you have Orochi's state and even Denjiro still MIA lol).

Hopefully, HOPEFULLY Kaido has a decent trump card. Regardless, the fight should be a good ass struggle to the end.
