Well my hope comes from the fact that in the teaser we obviously see shanks in a flashback with the strawhat and his familar look. But we got Shanks official design with the red pants and no strawhat revealed which indicates that he will show up in present time and not just in a flashback like many fear.

If Oda decided to change the format for once ever since SW, I wouldn't mind the movie tbh. Even tv specials have the same format for fucks sake. So It would be welcomed edition if it different personally.
The problem is there isn't given enough freedom to the writers

I don't understand why people even thought we would see Shanks fight in the movie. He is one of the most important characters... Of course, nothing special about him will be revealed in the filler film.
I also didn't understand people's reactions at the beginning... Why the hell is the movie going to be canon if the manga doesn't even mention Shanks?
Come on guys, it's always been obvious that the movies are filler and never reveal any of the major facts...

I think Uta might end up the first movie character since Shiki and his crew to be canon to the manga, even if Red isn’t.

I don’t think a filler daughter of Shanks (blood related or not) is something Oda would be happy with. It’s too important a relationship.

So I’m expecting some canonical Shanks backstory from this, with the actual film itself to be non-canon.

Z and Tesoro are different from the rest of the movie villians cuz Oda wrote them but we don't know if they're canon or not because we haven't had a situation in manga where a named character like Sengoku name dropped them
That's why I said they exist in a canon "purgatory" where they could fit the story but we don't actually know if they're canon or not
