not really, Blackbeard is the one that captured Ace and used him to get what he wanted.

So in a way, Blackbeard has more significance into getting Ace killed than Akainu.

Especially when Blackbeard used Ace to get half of his broken crew and also get Whitebeard's Devil Fruit.

Blackbeard has much more impact on the story than Akainu, in fact Marineford happened all because of Blackbeard.

One-month manga break coincides with the anime filler arc in July preparing for Film Red. That's probably the timetable that matters.

That time was probably picked a while ago based on when Wano will end. I'm guessing Wano ended up being a few chapters longer, so instead of wrapping it up before the break we'll just get bounties and a cliffhanger, than fully wrap up afterwards.

Blackbeard did what no one did, broke the rule of the power system of OP, ties to void century being a D, nothing about Akainu is special, he's just another logia, nor is he a D, Celestial Dragon or anything special with his haki nothing.

But also when I talk about story significance I don’t just mean like, shifting the world.

I also mean it in terms of significance to our protagonists. And in that sense I think Shanks, Blackbeard, Akainu, Dragon, Mihawk, etc are all much more connected to our MCs than Big Mom or Kaido which makes them feel more significant if that makes sense.

If Blackbeard wasn't in the story

there would be no Marineford and Ace would be alive

if Akainu wasn't in the story, there would be Marineford, and most likely there would be another Admiral in his place

now, i don't know if they would be able to kill Ace without Akainu, so the war could go differently

but to me it's clear that Blackbeard had way more impact in the story than Akainu Pre-TS

and Post-TS neither have done much yet, seems like both are making their moves now
