All I know is he claimed on different occasions he didn't like such appellation and didn't define himself as one.

This tells us it was just the people calling him like that for being a man haunting pirates down for money.

Well, tbh whenever SHs do something significant, it's Luffy who gets the most (if not all) the glory... Like with Dofla, every newspaper mentioned how Luffy was such a badass, but what Zoro or Ussop or any other SH did got no attention from anyone. Right now he's just a member of Luffy's crew, he doesn't have any personal identity, so I don't think they care wether he's a 'Pirate Hunter' or something else.
Maybe it'll change after Wano, when Zoro, Sanji and others take on Ultralords of New World and make names for themselves like Shanks's crew.

For the same reason Nami is still the « Cat Buglar » even tho she do not steal from anyone anymore because it was his first epithet.

The epithet will not change or go away. If he ever got a new one, it will be add next to « Pirate Hunter ».

Zoro is not the only character who have an epithet that does not suit him anymore

What else? He isn't a conqueror
Such epithet fits him.

Also Luffy gets all the praise in the newspapers, nobody has time to praise or find a new nickname for Zoro.

1. With the exception of few, like Big Mom, nicknames tend to be the immediate things. The first indentifiable feature or the first thing people get called. There isn't much reason to change Zoro's nickname so it hasn't changed.

2. They're arbitrary anyway. We don't have Straw hat Roger or Shanks (far as we know, but no one points it out even after the revelation) but we have Straw hat Luffy. At this point you're more likely to describe him as Warlord Stomper or point to the huge scar. Zoro is attacked more than he attacks generally, but it sounds cool.

This is the arc where it will change imo.

I think his epithet should be something that's unique to him and that's easily noticeable like Strawhat to Luffy and Hawkeye to Mihawk (ignoring whatever the hell Imu has going on there), and this fits perfectly:

Pirate Hunter Zoro (Kaizoku Gari no Zoro) > Three Sword Style Zoro (Santoryu no Zoro).

Marimo also works, when a fodder says "Hey, look! it's the Marimo" everyone will be able to recognize him instantly. :pepedoffy:

I guess cause he was very infamous as a bounty hunter so they go with that
It will probably change to something else
Dude... he became more infamous as a Strawhat member LOL
Oda basically should have given him a new nickname the moment his bounty after Alabasta was revealed... Oda honestly is just not giving a fuck.. which is bad
He needs a new and better one that makes SENSE with his current standing

No one gets new nickname except the GOAT "Stealth Black" LOL

Zoro may gets a new nickname once SHs reach Raftel. Like Roger n Rayleigh got, after reaching laugh Tale. They started calling Roger Pirate King n Rayleigh Dark King.

I wouldn't mind Pirate Hunter for nw, which again is cool, if he gets something as same lvl of hype as Dark King EoS. :steef:
