In all seriousness its the porn addicts/coomers with their brains warped by their addictions to it that cause these irrational assumptions of thiers.
Japan does see nudity as more "innocent/pure" too. To them, bathing together like this is completely normal.
People unironically saying Hiyori assaulted Zoro as someone who was fucking assaulted physically and sexually multiple times in my life growing up makes me fucking sick and furious. They have no idea what real fucking sexual assault is and they are part of the reason it is heavily misunderstood, downplayed and treated as a joke.
Hiyori was acting like a doting lover/wife to Zoro, its an extremely sweet and romantic moment that has been building up since he saved her life and they got to know each other, once she revealed her true self to him and such. Oda even had him and her as pseudo parents to Toko too.
I've seen other series have women tenderly treating mens wounds and cleaning and bathing them as a sign of love and affection, of respect, compassion, sincerity and such. No hidden sexual degenerate intentions or anything else. Series like Rurouni Kenshin, Fairy Tail, I think maybe in Bleach and Naruto too and plenty others I'm sure too.
They are probably the same people who watch shit like Rising of the Shield Hero and Redo of Healer. I think those were both written by women ironically too but I digress. These are the same kind of guys who think women should be removed from games and that Samurai Warriors 4 having an option to remove women entirely is "based".
Fucking incel logic man. You can tell these people don't have much experience with women or at all.
Well said anyway, I completely agree and would react in the same way. I wish someone would take care of me like Hiyori does for Zoro but thats probably never going to happen with my track record and circumstances too. But such is life. Ill be 6 feet under or even ashes one day and it won't matter anymore.
I still felt uncomfortable with the Tama and Toko stuff this chapter but I know its meant to be innocent, its like a baby grabbing their mothers breasts and trying to get milk. I think with Tama, since she lost her parents and had to be alone and literally starving to almost death too, she is probably just trying to be affectionate and hug Nami too and such. Maybe fascinated by her body too in an innocent, child-like manner because children are fucking curious including about all parts of their and other bodies too.
If people think this chapter is bad, then god help them with lolicons, actual "loli" sexualisation in other series, although we've had some questionable stuff in OP too especially in the anime too thanks to Toei. I don't want to open up the Pedora's Box of controversy on here again but we've had shit like Van Der Decken lusting over Shirahoshi since she was a child and making sure his hand is permanently tracked onto her for most of her life now, so he always can "reach out to her" and find her and such.
It's just a disgusting cycle of hate. Multiple cultures accept genital mutilation as normal. So many people are taught that women are lesser, some men are taught that they're evil just for being men... Honest acts of love like holding hands and hugging people are treated as weird, when it's common for rich people to get away with abuse. Porn industries degrade girls and guys with drugs and lies, then people act like hentai artists are destroying society, when rape and murder are a privilege for those with enough power.
I want to live in a world where a kind woman like Nami can hold a child in her arms in a bath and hug her. I want to live in a world where grown men can handle being around cute young women without acting up, and this sure as hell isn't it. It's okay to think young girls are cute. Acting like it's okay to sexualize them, the way the US and Japanese entertainment industries do with celebrities and idols, is wrong. To me, One Piece is real: it's a metaphor, an analogy for the real world. A world where people like the Celestial Dragon Charlos can actually buy women as their slaves if they have enough power and money.
Hatred won't solve it. Oda's right. People like Luffy are what solves it. Loving people, and cherishing people, is what solves it. Even if Luffy has bad history with someone, he's willing to judge them in the moment: if they choose to do the right thing, he'll support them, like with Bon Kurei. I want to be like that. I want to be someone who inspires people to smile and laugh, rather than this shithole oppressive society that chokes the laughter out of people by degrading them from all sides.
It took me a long time to realize that I wasn't the problem, and that I had been raised to hate myself, and other people. And my parents didn't even mean to do it. It just happened so naturally. It honestly is programming. This might sound insane, but, to me, the One Piece is real. There is a treasure waiting there, if we're willing to fight like Luffy, and break through all this lying, hateful bullshit. I'd rather fight for that than listen to the assholes that tell you it's better to just hate people mindlessly.
I'm a giant pervert, but Oda made me realize what I want most is honest affection, like what you described with Zoro and Hyori. Sexual pleasure is great, but the true beauty in a relationship comes from the moments that show your devotion to someone you view with mutual respect: Luffy giving Nami her hat. Sanji praising Pudding's eye/Pudding erasing Sanji's memories to spare him from more pain after causing him so much. Usopp telling Kaya lies to make her smile. Zoro's pledge to Kuina. Toki's determination to stay behind and die in Wano, rather than use her powers to flee.
I'm so sorry you had to suffer through so much: the fact that you're so thoughtful and kind still says a lot about who you really are. You do deserve love, and, if you try to make people smile and laugh like Luffy does, you'll find your One Piece. Be like Luffy. Be the person you want to be. Oda's right: we can make a world where kids like Tama can eat as much as they want. I hope this didn't come off as cringe. I probably would have killed myself if it wasn't for One Piece, and I'm just fucking sick of seeing this messed up world hurt good people.
