It's not contradictory, it is the latest info that nullifies earlier contradictions, if they exist which doesnt, imo, since pirate doesnt refer to 1vs1 since his own title of WSM is already above all people minus Kaido while strongest pirate would imply non-pirates to not be involved.

his blade isnt black dude,only the sheath is, it's implied you need haki to make them black probably coc and admirals took the easy DF path instead of the hard working haki path
