It's not contradictory, it is the latest info that nullifies earlier contradictions, if they exist which doesnt, imo, since pirate doesnt refer to 1vs1 since his own title of WSM is already above all people minus Kaido while strongest pirate would imply non-pirates to not be involved.

It means he is the strongest man and pirate. It would be odd to call Whitebeard strongest creature, as the word creature has the connotation of Kaido not being human. Hence Nami asked Law whether strongest creature means that he is no human. Apart from that, I don't know how much the term man is applicable to the Oni race, but Kaido in his introduction was several times referred to as a "man".

Also, "latest" info doesn't contradict earlier when that info was stated by his own boy who stated his life is only worth living in the context of helping Kaido achieving his goal. King's words do not have the same weight as those of the narrator itself, which is backed up by the perception of the world too.
