That’s what I say since a long time. Oda went this way on purpose. While Luffy just got his awakaning, his next steps will be to master it. So his next adventure and power up will resolve around that.
With Kid we have the exact counterpart. His whole fighting resolved around his DF, which was successful even against the biggest known tank. His next steps will be on the haki level.
