In Mafia, we have two factions and a number of independents.
The Town Faction is the good guys. We do not know who else is in the town. In most games, we have a number of powers but in this one we don't have any. Only Peter
@Poison Chan has a power, and we CANNOT REVEAL our roles or names or anything. Only 1 person in this game could. This rule changes per game / host. But for this game, it means you cannot say who you are or aren't with 100% clarity.
The Mafia faction typically is composed of 3 or 4 members, they can kill a player each night, and may possess a number of other abilities. These will be described by any player who knows them better than me (
@Flower @Finalbeta @Bogard) and typically are sneaky. Mafia DOES KNOW each other. They have a hidden chat they can converse in and coordinate. Their goal is to kill off town and stay hidden.
All town players want to lynch the Mafia. To lynch, you say
Vote Lynch Ace Ventura pet detective
After a majority (8 in this games case) is met, the player will be lynched and we'll discover their role / name and abilities.
A majority of the game is sort of seeing who is lying, who is inconsistent and who is hiding something. Players who are MAY BE scum (Mafia, in this case), or could be a secret townie. However, disregard that last thought. Since we only have 1 power role—Poison Chan—there's no real reason to be shifty in this game.
There's the potential for individual roles too. Like serial killer, arsonist, Werewolf, Jester, Executive, et cetera. These are third party roles with specific win conditions. Jesters—we have 1 in the game—want to be lynched. They'll fool people into lynching them. Then there's serial killers, who may possess a double voting ability (making it easy to track them in voting phases) or a night time killing ability.
These independent roles cannot communicate at night and do not have "allies", but you might find some strange bedfellows with certain roles.
Any questions?
