Stephen Paul is just a translator, not Oda's spokesperson or confidant, he can't change the meaning of words.

Strength/Power = 力
Skill/Technique = 技
Nah

That's what he is trying to say

Oda uses it interchangeably and doesn't distinguish between strength and skill

Haki is a skill but it's also from where strength comes from

l guess Mihawk fans want to ignore that Saint Shanks hype role will be to reveal another tier to CoC.. :kayneshrug:
No one's ignoring Saint Shanks' hype.

It's just underneath Mihawk's in every manner possible as far as overall level is concerned. Mihawk's hype was above Saint Shanks as per the title alone since East Blue- Saint Shanks is part of a group called Swordsmen, and Mihawk is the strongest within that group. If Saint Shanks could beat Mihawk, he'd be strongest.

He doesn't make them 100 percent direct, but if you read the dialogue of Branew, he set Saint Shanks as the Gold standard.

The misconception is that "Buggy Rivals Saint Shanks"

Then he turns around and says "Mihawks Swordsmanship surpasses Saint Shanks swordsmanship."

One is thought to rival Saint Shanks, the other surpasses his swordsmanship. Not one Rivals Saint Shanks, and the other surpasses him.

Oda explicitly added the Swordsmanship bit in there, right after a direct strength comparison.
Buggy rivals Saint Shanks as a pirate captain.
Mihawk rivals him as an individual (a.k.a. as swordsmen).

They called Buggy a rival to Saint Shanks and then gave Mihawk the bigger bounty when he's the subordinate. They're also comparing Saint Shanks swordsmanship to WSS, which means there is no dancing around the fact that Saint Shanks is a swordsman. Oda legit answered Saint Shanks vs. Mihawk for us in this chapter, and he made it as direct as possible.
Then there is no need to explicitly bring up Swordsmanship.

It's "basic shounen".
He's gonna be stronger than Saint Shanks.

Do you REALLY believe Luffy won't grow stronger than Saint Shanks?
For real? :okay:
He will be stronger than Saint Shanks but Mihawk already is and Zoro will be too. You guys are acting like Saint Shanks is Luffy final opponent when 99% chance he isn’t.

The way you guys should see it is EoS Luffy > Imu > Zoro > Mihawk > Saint Shanks.

l will need to wait until Mihawk is shown that he can not use that 3rd level of CoC then..:kuzanshut:
