When Naruto didn't focus on Sasuke the manga was really great (Hidan and Kakuzu arc, Pain arc)

Naruto was barely in those arcs, that is why they were great.

Jiraya vs Pain was awesome
Kakashi and co vs Hidan and Kakuzu was great
Pain vs the Village was great

But the moment you put Naruto into the mix it became boring and unwatchable

Naruto saved the day against Kakuzu : boring as hell
Naruto part vs Pain : boring and terrible end. Only Kyubi vs Pain was fun

Oda never used Zoro for hypetool post skip. That role was for Sanji or Luffy.

Nah, too much talking and all the illusion bullshit was lame to watch. The final third of it was good, but the rest sucks ass. It should have been written like Gaara vs Kimimaro with big moves and cqc plus an occassional Sharingan illusion attacks.

Not to mention that it happened before Sharingan became too overly OP, so their attacks looked restrained.

About Law's crew, don't be hasty with the judgments. They're certainly not weak but don't let this chapter cloud your views on how they compare to the BB pirates. This is their first proper on-screen fight as a crew, so of course, they wouldn't look bad right off the bat. But you have to remember that mfer Hawkins captured them all and took them hostages.
