So I see a lot of people speculating that luffy used his g5 similar to how he used to jump straight to g4 with a strong opponent, but I think g5 is different since he has awakened his devilfruit he doesn't need to activate his gears how he used to by inflating himself or pumping his legs, now his body just does what he wants it to do without having to rationalize why rubber works like that so I personally don't expect to see gears2-4 ever again

They are considered guidelines. Shit that others have used before which we have agreed "works". Those are what we call tropes. All writers use them to some extent. But you could write some weird, experimental shit with none of it and nobody could say it's objectively wrong.
To clarify, we usually agree on what's bad writing and good writing. But when we talk about objectivity, we are talking about hard facts. Those type of things do not exist when it comes to telling a story. Math is objective reality. Medicine relies on objective biology. Writing is art, and art is subjective.

I don't think regular zoan awakenings aren't something particularly to be desired. The fruit slowly turns to the user into a brainless animal. Zoans are different from paramecia and logia, mind you. That's probably the reason kaido and his close commanders didn't go that way. In luffy's case it might be an exception. However I could also imagine we're gonna lose the real luffy towards the end. Though, it's not even clear anymore who the real luffy is. His stupid nature might have been a zoan fraud from the beginning.
My impression is that it's a lot like that spoiler with Sanji breaking his leg on Seraphim Jinbe not too long ago
The core of the chapter is real (Straw Hats fighting Jinbe, Luffy fighting Lucci in this case) but stuff like Lucci being scared, Akainu blocking Kizaru the exact same way he did back during Wano, Lucci being completely knocked out and telling his allies he wants to leave are embellishments added for the sake of discussion.
I'm definitely looking forward to the raws though as this can be spicy either way

Think about it, his redhawk catching fire and lightning the floor on fire from running on punk hazard only happen because he believes it's possible, that's how all his gears worked because he believed which is the true power of the nika fruit. Now that it is awakened he can just do whatever without having to come up with a reason why it works, just like how he didn't have to inflate himself to get big against kaido he just got big because he wanted to.
