They are refered as beasts. And that's why they stay at their hybrid forms forever due awakening. Lucci let that clear since his awakening form is basically his hybrid form. If they were simply animals they wouldn't look like half humans like Minotaur when they ate their animals DF or whatever other DF.

For the record King would low diff Chapter 1000 Luffy much less fodder version of Luffy that defeated Katakuri.
King would give WCI Luffy same treatment he gave Sanji, only difference is Judges suit won't he there to save Sanji and he'd die..like he nearly died from Hody Jones.
Even chapter 1010 Luffy doesn't stand that much of a chance against King.
Chapter 1000 Zoro was easily YC1+ to Low top tier with Ashura.
Chapter 1000 Zoro certainly Low diffs Katakuri and Post WCI Luffy fodders.

Based on a spoiler there's two things that need to be said.
1 - Luffy vs Lucci It's not a Yonko level battle. Lucci is not top tier. Lucci is YC but has yet to prove he can beat YC1 level fighters. Of course, this is based on the battle so far.
2 - Oda put Luffy's awakening (G5) into much greater perspective. G5 doesn't automatically make faster or stronger than his G4 modes. Instead, It puts him in a state where he's able to manipulate his environment and use his body to the full potential. If Luffy needs to use G4 level speed or strength he can without needing to exit one mode first and into another.
Zoan awaken does increase his base stats. I place his physical strength and speed between G2/G3 and G4.
