People were disappointed about Orochi as well despite it being pretty obvious.
The way the son is built up so far is that he will definitely be vastly different than Kaidou himself, being a wimp and weak is just one possible outcome, could be a righteous and morally strict person, like following a code like Samurai and so forth.
