my first reply to you is that lion prides do hunt them, no other animal does, and lions only do soo because there is no food at that point as all the animals they prey on have migrated north during the dry season.
Lion prides during the dry season hunt anything from other predators, crocodiles, livestock, snakes, monkeys, etc and in the most extreme of dry seasons they even hunt humans, its not that giraffes are prey its that lions will eat anything to keep themselves alive
