Im more of a Carrotstan than remotely a Yamabro, i jsut think based on how the writing has gone, that that's whats most likely, the arcs are mostly irrelevant, because i don't even except that level of writing possibly.
It's more the fact that 80% of Yamato's existance seems to be fixating in joining the crew and it's not played off as a joke

For Carrot on the other hand, its the opposite. While Oda made her stay on zou, her arc revolved around the discovering of the sea, (she literally was writen as seeing the sea like a wonderland). So technically, with what we had from her, Carrot shouldn't stay on Zou for long, she is only a teenager, her mind should be focused on what she lived:
The seas.
Now... The fact that Oda choosed to put Carrot at the head of the mink confirms a lot of things that I have been saying about Carrot over the years. Notably the fact that Carrot is constructed and written to represent the dawn. (or the dusk, your choice). Problem is.. there might have been a change of heart concerning Carrot. And this can actually be observed since the begininning of Wano. ..
I think Oda went too far with her.
He kept his writing coherent by giving her the status of Queen but choosed not to go too far with it. Which gave us that half weird ending for her. It does not feel "right" if you understand me.
My real question is: "what happened?" I don't think this has something to do with time or the editor story, I think it's something else.. but it's a real mystery. And I love mysteries lol
Anyway, Oda could go back.. or what he wrote could have actually been just a setup for Carrot, we can't know until the story is over.
Carrot still has a shot, much more likely than Yamato. It's just very slim.
