Future Events Is Oda trying to remove Kid and Law from the One Piece battle?

Since Egghead I have the impression that Oda wants to put the last competitors of Luffy forward that we know from the beginning, Shanks and Blackbeard.

The fact that just after beating Big Mom in 2v1. Kid and Law both end up facing Shanks and Blackbeard and that the purpose of the fight is to have a poneglyph in the race for One Piece makes me think that.

Meanwhile Luffy is on Vegapunk Island.

What do you think ?

Yes. A lot of people have to understand that from a narrative perspective, Law and Kid serve their roles as allies, not competitors for One Piece. They do not have fleets. They are not Yonko. They do not have 8-10 notable commanders in their group.

Conversely, both Shanks and BB do have these traits. They are far older characters than Kid and Law. They are far more important when it comes to lore and tying said lore to the MC. They both must be encountered by the MC.

Law/Kid defeating BM was a good means of elevating Luffy's allies to a level that makes them a viable threat when Luffy becomes PK. They wont die, but they also arent going to be able to compete with Luffy either. Theres a reason they fought BM together while Luffy fought Kaido mostly alone.

This is coming from someone who likes Kid and Law, rooted for them against BM, and saying this obectively that while Im a Shanks fan, it has nothing to do with Shanks frankly. They do not escalate this story as antagonists for One Piece. BB does, and Shanks does at this time (until we know why hes also going after one piece, hes still an antagonist).

Regardless, Kid and Law WILL be major allies in the final war, and may even outlast BB/Shanks in this regard (if BB/Shanks are not involved in the final war, but only for One Piece).

Yeah. At some point Kid and Law will have to fail since they are direct rivals anyway.
But their crews are way too underdeveloped for a straw hats vs heart pirates or kid pirates to be a serious thing, so their dream getting crushed by two of the most central characters of the story make complete sense. (Yes Shanks is a central character, panel time =/= importance to the overall story).
