Id imagine by the time Luffy gets there, Shanks (at least) will be gone since he was already leaving. Cant imagine they fight for days there. But sure, you might be right, maybe the entire marine plot here (at least with Kizaru) is finished by the time we leave Egghead.
Im just curious at how Oda will address the whole Koby/Garp situation. Will Luffy be involved? Are we going there first or after Elbaf? Are we going there at all lol?
My guts also tells me Shanks is gonna be gone by the time Luffy gets there but I wanna believe

lol
Not really sure how the chase from Egg Head to Elbaf will work though. For one, how will the Marines know the SHs destination is Elbaf?
Also I could be wrong, but I'm not sure the Marines will be keen on waging a war on Giant territory simply to capture the SHs so I think we actually get a full blown out clash against the Marines on Egghead.
Like most have already suspected we seem to finally be in the final stretch of the race for the PK title with Teach and Shanks actively seeking out the poneglyph and with the Kidd/Shanks encounter last chapter, Oda's now setup conflicts between the most promising PK candidates from both the new generation and the older generation. The encounter with the Marines on Egghead seems like the conflict Oda's setting up for Luffy so I'm thinking like Kidd and Law, he'd also have to step up to the challenge.
With regards to Garp and Coby, I think Garp might be used as a plot device to prevent Law from getting killed by Teach but I do think Garp falls during this encounter. I don't think he will successfully take Coby back. Coby might fight alongside the SHs whenever they face off against the Blackbeard Pirates so reckon he'll stay captured for a the time being.
