Wouldn't that just make it the same as ancient zoans? They're also said able to soak damage.

Lunarian ability seems a lot different given what we saw that they can simply just shrug off damage with no issues

Yes that is why King said his ability goes beyond that. There were doing endurance testing on him so it supports the damage soaking point. If it was just hardness, then S-Shark would not have been affected by the thunder bolt

S-shark has mechanical parts in his body. Of course lightining would affect him.
