Yeah. Twisting our expectation is the point of One Piece. Remember that. Wait until next chapter for the full picture. You won't get one in a reveal panel.
In all fairness, she was likely trying to stop the WGs attack on egghead when she told them to contact the navy. Hoping that the WG would prefer to keep peace and push back their plan to kill Vegapunk.
Good thinking. Considering the current situation it would however be highly unlikely that the WG (or Imu in this case) would just let Vegapunk go and sail with Luffy, just because Luffy is a yonko. We need to weigth the priorities of Imu (WG) here:
- snuffing out any research of the void century that is more than not connected to him being revelaed as the secret leader of the world (and we know he would destroy whole island to not be recognized as such; the WG would Buster-call whole islands to snuff out any research of the void century)
- going against a strong Yonko that has a fleet
If we look at those two possible choices, I - in my opinion - would assume that the WG would definitely try to hide the most relevant secret of their existance and go against Luffy, if he stood in the way. A mere yonko cannot go against Imu.

I'd love to see a scene where Arlong finds out that Jinbei joined Luffy's crew Imagine the personal crisis that could cause, even after their falling out. That could be some pretty interesting stuff.

Yep, I initially suspected Pythagoras for the same reason - he got attacked first, but survived, since they're androids, he could have had another body somewhere.
But I'm actually glad some Vegapunks get offed, it was a little too crowded with 7 of them. Go York
Also, I did post in the chapter thread, but it's also appropriate there - #CaesarForNakama agenda train reached its final destination well, I'm not sure how it will end, but I can actually see Germa 66 being on Luffy's side in the final war, not because they want to help, but more like to create chaos and be against WG/Marines for their own agenda
It's a fairly common theme in mangas with traitor plots, heck, even in Agatha's Christie most famous work "And then there was none" same principle is applied. Nothing new under the moon :)
This is just a common planting in mystery stories. She made S-Snake petrify her to make it harder for others to notice. Classic missdirection and it worked.

You guys aren't distinguishing between story for the viewers and the OP world, i said "why did York do that theatre", aka why did she got petrified in front of Ussop, Franky and whoever.
It was pointless, it's not missdirection lmao. Yeah pythagoras or Eddison or whoever it was got blowned up aswell

For this exact reason, strawhats are a menace, there is no need for her to reveal herself.(she most likely didn't thought that the strawhat would debark on the island, hance why the miss direction.)
It was a missdirection. I can understand that you didn't like it, but it was REALLY well done. The only thing missing really is the real motive, but we will most likely get that sooner than later.

I don't think you understand the idea of missdirection, when York got petrified the only people she's "tricking" is Ussop, Franky, etc..
Your allusion to "all of the SH hence the missdirection" makes no sense, she didn't missdirect all of the SH, she appeared to get defeated in front of 2 SHs which never even suspected her.
She could have just went off on her own like Shaka or Pythagoras, she didn't need to go in a group, she didn't need to fake lose in front of Ussop and Franky and she didn't have any reason to do any of this, and we know her motivations, it's the retarded idea of wanting to be a celestial dragon.
Furthermore how did she know Shaka found Vegapunk? I just rebembered it makes even less sense, so she told S-snake to petrify her but somehow knew to get unpetrified to go shoot Shaka in the head in time?
