I still don't see how his weapon is a sword but he wouldn't be a pure weapon user like Roger, Mihawk, Rayleigh or Shanks anyway since he relies a lot on his DF.
Those other guys fight primarily with swords when serious.
Not sure what your point is but WB's weapon is not a sword but it is a blade. It's blade is supreme but is not a sword.
Then there is no such thing as relying a lot on DF to not be considered swordsman. Oda already said he considers Law a swordsman.
And finally WB used his blade against Roger his biggest rival ever. If anything he didn't took serious the whole Marineford War because he was so much stronger than anybody there and because it was a rescue mission not an execution of marines.
Make Cross Guild pre-timeskip with WB leading it and Marines, WG won't survive to see Luffy becoming Pirate King.
Not sure what your point is but Mihawk doesn't seems like a bodybuilder either.

Law is a swordsman but there's a difference between a swordsman and a swordsmaster who focuses only on swords.
Guys like Roger used guns too but it was not a serious part of his skillset. Its not something he would use in a serious fight while Law's DF is at least half his ability.
WB is very skilled with his blade weapon or whatever its called. I don't know what i would call him cause bladesman honestly sounds awful.
WB took marineford seriously he was just waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay weaker than he was in his prime.
So why did Mihawk consider Shanks his rival and peer? Was Shanks specialized in cuts and later decided to just switch to non cuts because they are better, which he only realized after fighting Mihawk? Or did Shanks restrict his non cut abilities against Mihawk because he is a fair sportsman, and Mihawk just accepted that humiliation of Shanks restricting himself and still calls himself WSS proudly.
By the most obvious deduction, Shanks wasn't that good using cuts/swordsman and that meant he didn't win his duels with Mihawk, so the manga always emphasizes that Mihawk's sword skills (cuts) are superior to Shanks' skills, manga never said that Mihawk was stronger than Shanks.
After Shanks learned the divine level of CoC, he changed his fighting style to use CoC to fight the same way WB, Big Mom, Fujitora and etc...
he uses his sword to channel his CoC powers, the same way WB uses his bisento sharp to utilize your earthquake powers. Shanks currently does not use the cutting fighting style, and as such he does not fit the criteria for a WSS title shot.
