Questions & Mysteries WHO IS THIS PERSON DRINKING WITH CROCUS??

The steering wheel in his fucking skull is probably the biggest piece of evidence that it isn’t him; there’s only one kasa in the OP world big enough to hide it, and unless he somehow found the one Ace made for Oars Jr, I don’t see us missing something like that in the cover story image.
Yeah i forgot to mention the steering wheel too, still i wonder how he got that steering wheel in his head when he fought roger

I feel like that entirely defeats part of Brooks dream though. They were both Rumbar pirates, and Yorki being alive (and not a skeleton) shows Laboon that there is a living pirate that came back to see him from that crew already.

Plus, he's wearing a Wano hat and jacket that resembles nothing like Yorki.
The promise with Laboon was that the Rumbar Pirates would go all away the Grand Line and come back, which Yorki hasn't done, and Brook hasn't done yet. Otherwise Brook could just have met up with him at any time during the timeskip. So it being Yorki would be an added reward to Brook for achieving his dream- he doesn't just get to meet Laboon, but a friend he thought long dead.

As for why he's wearing Japanese style clothing, that'll be something to do with what he's been doing the past fifty years. Also a cowboy hat would be too obvious as to who he was, there wouldn't even be a conversation then. There's a decent amount of Japanese themed characters that as far as we know have nothing to do with Wano, and with how Wano's gone wouldn't really make sense for them to be from there- Sentomaru, Issho, Shiryu

I just think its a weird stretch to have someone else who's not Brook be alive for something like this. Yorki living doesn't do anything for the story, other than severely hurt Brook's goals emotionally.

It's not really a stretch. The question has always been what was the point of Yorki not dying with the rest of the Rumbar Pirates but instead having his fate left unconfirmed? Given Oda's tendency towards writing deaths I always think the obvious answer is that he's actually alive.

And I very much disagree with it hurting Brook's goals emotionally. Brook's promise is very specific- he gets to Laboon after sailing the entirety of the Grand Line- something that only one other crew (at the time of the promise nobody) has done. That's why it's important that Brook is on the Pirate King's crew, he can't accomplish his dream otherwise. Yorki hasn't managed it. He's got back to Laboon, sure, but he hasn't fulfilled the manly romantic promise that One Piece is made of.

Again, Brook could give up right now and begin to make his way back to Laboon. He could have done that any time in the last fifty years, even without his shadow. But that isn't his dream, and it's not what he promised Laboon.

I just feel that Laboon would have reacted much differently to Yorki himself. Plus, Yorki would be like 80-90 years old a this point (if he was around Brook's age). Could it be him? Sure. Do I think its him? I personally doubt it. Its really not something Oda would leave us hanging for 350+ chapters over. He's such an insignificant character otherwise, other than to Brook.

Ah, but we aren't seeing this guy arriving on Reverse Mountain. That's when Laboon would have went nuts. We're seeing these two guys share a drink over the return of the Strawhats after the timeskip. That's the point of the overall cover story that often gets overlooked.

The question is who would Crocus celebrate the return of the Strawhats with? And why would that person be with Crocus in the first place? To me, has to be Yorki.

Scopper Gaban, that’s what makes the most sense to me. He has the exact same hair, only the color doesn’t fit but it doesn’t mean anything, remember what happened to Denjiro.

Know what? Thinking about it in context of the actual cover story, you are totally right! He'd celebrate Brook's appearance/name. The question is was he doing for 50 years only to come back now? Is he more important than we think? Is Oda trying to make Brook's dream more signficant?
