With the new chapter, it's basically confirmed that Akainu is the final villain.

What we have learned this chapter:

Imu is most likely a female midget and Nefertari Lili:

As we know with Oda, he doesn't let Luffy fight women because he doesn't like it. So why would he make the final villain be a female midget for Luffy to fight?

People's freedom

As we know Nika brings back freedom to people. And people of the world have their freedom taken away by Celestial Dragons:

What gives Celestial Dragons the power over other people's freedom? Admirals:

People only obey Celestial Dragons because they fear the power of Admirals. There's literally no other reason in the story as to why the world would obey Celestial Dragons. It's always just Admirals.

There's no secret ruler that people fear, there's no ancient weapons that people fear.
They only fear Admirals who give power to the Celestial Dragons to take away their freedom.

Even in this chapter, people were shitting themselves because of an Admiral coming to avenge a celestial dragon

Beating Admirals = giving back freedom to the people of the world.

Beating Imu means JACKSHIT to the people of the world.
Beating Blackbeard means JACKSHIT to the people of the world.

They would still fear Admirals and obey celestial dragons, because beating Imu/Blackbeard doesn't mean freedom to the people of the world as Imu gives NOTHING to the power of celestial dragons. It's only Admirals that give them power.

Akainu, the opposite of freedom

And who is at the top of Admirals? Akainu himself.

Akainu's justice and ideals are quite literally the opposite of freedom:

-There's only 1 way to live life

-You cannot even born free as you are responsible for the sins of your ancestors/family

-In the end your freedom can be sacrificed for the greater goal

Akainu left permanent impact on Luffy quite literally represented by his scar

Luffy and Akainu haven't even fought and Luffy already has a scar from Akainu.
Oda doesn't let Luffy get scarred for no reason. There's a reason he has no scars from fighting Blackbeard, Crocodile, Lucci, Katakuri, Kaido...etc

Because none of them challenged Luffy's will and ideals and left a permanent impression on Luffy, unlike Akainu's ideals.

The marines are the army of the WG, but the army isn't the only agency of the WG. The marines are the lapdogs who ensure the WG's hegemony on the world, but the HK appear to be the most trusted force of the Gorosei, or at least the closest to them. If they really have an evil Shanks sibling parallel get ready for some wifi-diffing.

The marine's and the Holy Knight's functions are different. Marine's (not just the admirals) ensuring an iron fist on the world is their job, Holy Knights have a different job, and it's been made obvious that they only take on matters closely relating to the Celestial Dragons and Mariejoa.

Also, because of the different nature of their role, them being well known isn't synonymous with their strength being well known, or for a simple fishman bandit to know about them like he knows about the famous rulers of the marines.

Just the fact that the marines are consistently seen as something separate from the government (as the army and the government actually are in eral life) while Oda went out of his way to create a corpse that is not only part of the WG but that seems to be an elite close to the Gorosei should tell you Akainu will go down like the Yonkou, as a top tier villain that's still not the big bad guy, because the big bad guy is the WG, not the marines.

Sakazuki will never be the final villain unless he starts showing the slightest hints he’s linked to the wider mysteries of OP- Ds, Void Century, Ancient Weapons, Imu, Rocks.

It‘s always been between Blackbeard and some sort of Celestial Dragon representative.

The Gorosei were always unlikely to me (Gorbachev with a moustache as final villain lol). If Imu is a woman- and I think she is- then she‘s obviously out. Holy Knight’s? Not jumping on a silhouette train when there are actual characters with build up. Shanks? Just don’t see it.

Blackbeard, fellow D, only man with two DFs, inheritor of Rocks’ will, hated by Imu as much as Joy Boy and Poseidon reincarnate, has a crew to match the Strawhats, by far the longest buildup of any villain (bar crazy Shanks theories), has and will always be my bet.
