I disagree with that heavily, I'd 100% trust Puck or Etenboby over Stephen Paul, not necessarily because Stephen Paul doesn't understand Japanese, but because he takes so many liberties and makes slight alterations with how he translates things for a western audience.

Yeah, because translating Japanse =/= replacing words, its an art. Japanese translation heavily relies on contexts. Japanese and English do do not share many similarities in grammar as well.
