Having convinced a young man to leave with her by jumping off a bridge, the man refuses at the last moment, but she pushes him away. Before jumping in her turn, a messenger brings the prostitute the announcement that some money has arrived. Delighted, the idea of killing herself suddenly seems ridiculous and she returns to her activities.

I am defending him—Katakuri’s design is meant to provoke the question of why won’t be show his face. We learn via the many siblings about Katakuri’s reputation and dedication to his family—his history as a pirate—throughout the fight and we get the final corner piece when we find out what happened to Brûlée.
An excellently designed character doesn’t require a long flashback. Their design speaks to their history and personality all at once.
