I was always a stupid band aid solution to racial inequality.
Harvard and those colleges were actually being racist. The term “Asian” covers a variety of different ethnicities from various countries. Upper caste Indians are over represented in these universities, however dalits aren’t. Yet by their standards, they’d both be classified as “Asian” and similarly discriminated against.

Giving benefits to certain segments of the population isn’t discriminatory. Otherwise you could say Medicare is discriminatory because young people can’t usually get it.

College graduates need student loan forgiveness. Black people need restitution for the oppression their community suffered. Poor white people need more development in rural areas.

What he's saying is that tearing down statues of supposed oppressors in an act of indignant self-indulgence is the height of hypocrisy. It's childish and destructive. It accomplishes nothing.

Taking money from a white guy who never committed a crime will not appease or achieve justice for your ancestor. It does not change history. It does not undo a sin, even more so because that sin does not belong to the descendent.
