Questions & Mysteries Will Mihawk actually be Zoro's final opponent?

#21
Zoro vs Mihawk confuses me more than anything else in the story

Just think about it for a second

When would the fight take place?

Before Laugh Tale? Well that would mean Zoro has at least 1-2 more opponents before the series ends

During the Final War? Mihawk has no reason to align himself with the government. I don't think this makes much sense

Where would the fight take place?

Would it be a battle at sea? There's no way a ship would be able to withstand top tier Zoro and Mihawk going at it

Elbaf? What reason would Buggy and Co have to go there?

Too many questions

Buggy wanted to get Hajdurin back from Luffy

Mihawk will not be Zoro's last fight as Zoro will overcome the alleged World Strongest Swordsman in the battle for the One Piece. In reality it fits more pacing wise for his final foe to be affiliated with the World Government in some way as they are the grand antagonists of the series, and serve as the antithesis to the message of the series. It could be Fujitora, but I'm putting my bets on Nasujuro, who is the true WSS.

Nik, The Grim Reaper as an opponent was simply a desperate last ditch effort us Zoro fans at the time pulled out of our ass to not acknowledge the fact that Zoro would be incapacitated for the rest of the war.
Oda drew Death itself by his own choice, we didnt make it up.
And there has been 25 years of foreshadowing, ever since the line in Arlong park. We are not done with Death yet, we are just starting that plotline.

That was just Zoro's imagination personifying his critical state at the time, not an actual entity, though I'll give you that it was really fucking random since Zoro's been in this situation many times before, but yet never experienced such visions before.

Can’t believe Nik wants Zoros final fight to be death when Luffys going to surpass someone that Death can’t kill…

Many people are on this belief that Mihawk will be Zoro's final opponent and that will be it for Zoro, so do you think Mihawk will truly be Zoro's final opponent or do you think someone else will end up being Zoro's final opponent?

I do want to say that imo it doesn't matter whether or not Mihawk ends up being Zoro's final opponent, because at the end of the day Zoro will fight and defeat Mihawk.
Zoro has to find a way to avoid Mihawk cuts, because they are too overpower, i don't think Zoro is this agile enough - not yet

He really hasn't though, that would be the worst situation for him since Thriller Bark.

And I'd argue it even exceeds that, Oda just wanted the readers to visualize how much suffering is gonna come to Zoro after the King battle and mink medicine hakai side effects.

It's actually dumb that it turned out to be inconsequential, when Zoro took Luffy's pain in TB it effected him on Sabaody. Strawhats should keep that magic mink cum in bulk if there's literally no consequences to taking it. Just goes to show you how Oda's writing has fallen off.

As each arc pass EoS Mihawk looks ever more unlikely.

Buggy dragging Cros Guild don't setup up Mihawk for a post Pirate King Luffy.

On the other hand Zoro fighting the likes of Ghandi or hell Shiryu after the WSS is really weird.

But I don't think Mihawk is making past Laugh tale

You're right in that Zoro's punishment during the war was written to be more severe than anything he has experienced before as he was out cold for 2 weeks, but even with that the whole Grim Reaper thing was still really random as before that moment Zoro wasn't really showing much signs of struggling to operate despite his injuries, nor did he really show much extreme signs of pain, which is why the Grim Reaper thing felt so sudden.

Zoro should of been experiencing some of the worse pain yet in his life, but honestly it looked more like the aftermath of his fight vs Kaku, which was definitely not Oda's intentions.

That would be counterproductive. The idea was to show the pain through the grim reaper.

It was so severe that traditional methods weren't enough. The mink side effect hadn't kicked in yet, the grim reaper was the visual representation of the side effects about to kick in.

Definitely Mihawk, since he'd gain the WSS title by beating him. Shiryu would probably be a warmup fight to that, though I think it'll also happen.
