Nobody said that.

Just be more direct about it. Say "I have no willpower" and we understand it:kayneshrug:
No I have no motivation yes, but willpower is different. Willpower stands on the principle that you can overcome things that you should not be able to by the simple sheer will of your spirit. This is not scientific and not real. But yes, motivation do exist.

In fact the example of Churchill is interesting because yes, he might have had a mental illness that was preventing his motivation, but he was in a state of inertia toward progress meaning that he was creating motivation as long as he kept that inertia. For some people, there is no motivation but also no inertia, therefore no possibility of advancing toward progress.Hence why they need help, treatment, guidance and someone that push them forward.

Ps: who's birthday is it today ?

You called incurable sicknesses a "self fulfilling prophecy".

I said some, and even then, I'm not a doctor, I'm sure I can be wrong on that.
There are people with whom treatments do not work.

And people who take treatments may stop their treatments for various reasons. This usually results in a "relapse". Which means they were never "cured". This is why some sicknesses have a "lifetime treatment"

Indeed

Willpower plays an important factor but of course other factors are necessary to overcome odds.
You called incurable sicknesses a "self fulfilling prophecy".
I may have been unspecific. I did not call every incurable illness that. Please read my post again.
I was referring to people with mental illness who identify with their illness and consider it an inseparable part of their personality. This mindset prevents healing.

What do you mean by inertia or "state of inertia" exactly ?

But yes, every mental-illness are not the same because of their variety and the difference among the people who experience those illnesses. That's why doctors talk about a spectrum.

- A person with no inrtia is someone like me, no motivation and stuck at home with no motivation, in the incapacity of doing anything relevant beside surfing on the internet.
- A person with inertia is someone like Churchill, perhaps a lack of motivation but in a state of life where the environment, the social interactions, the job, the hobby acts as a motor for the person and therefore create enough motivation to keep them going, sometime without any help.

"Inertia" is exactly that, a state where you are already put into motion and you keep going because there is enough "push" around you to do that.

Sadly when you are not in that state, you can only hope that a treatment and someone will help to push you forward.

Let's take the example of a boat sailing at sea:

- Having inertia means that you can lack wind (motivation) but still be able to move
- Not having inertia means that there is no wind and the boat is not into motion meaning that you can't go forward.

The entire point of healing is to give back the inertia to the patient.
