Kin’emon’s perversion is unfunny, wholly unnecessary (we already have a main character who gets an erection every time a woman exists in his field of vision), and feels sleazy in retrospect ever since his wife O-Tsuru was introduced. Oda loves going back to that well as often and with as many characters as possible, I’m aware...but did he - the leader of the Scabbards, a man with a reputation as a calculating mastermind, a swordsman who can literally cut fire, and the guy leading the charge for revenge on his master’s murderers - REALLY need to be ultra horny as well??

I’m...trying to think of a criticism about Franky...and coming up completely short :fransuper:

If I had to pick one thing, and I understand it narratively, it would be kicking Usopp’s ass at the beginning of Water 7. Before I even got to know him, I hated the motherfucker who beat up a broken man right off the bat. This eventually softened as we learned his backstory, but even though it served a greater purpose, that still hurts.

Ace and Sanji

- Ace should have valued the efforts done to save him more by retreating and ignoring Akainu's words, but well, story wants him to be easily provoked... and give us that big impactful death

- Sanji should ONLY have perverted scenes from time to time, not every chapter he is in.... It used to be from time to time, now it's in every god damn chapter, which takes the fun and comedy out of it When it's right infront of your face the entire time

What I can relate it to is actually how WELL DONE Nami's money gag is written

Where it doesn't show up a lot, and every action with her somehow she connects it to get money... rather it happens spontaneously, right where there is a perfect opportunity to make it really funny and wasn't used for quite a while so that it actually comes out as the last thing on the viewers mind, that surprise factor for the viewer in that instant for not having that thought crossing their mind is what makes the joke much more funny and impactful

Don't get me wrong, I like perverted Sanji, I enjoy it, but just lower the tone Oda... make it less prevelant

And when it happens, it counts

luffy - i think the way he handled that whole going merry situation was terrible. at first, he got super mad when the shipwrights told him merry cannot be repaired. however, when he told usopp they're getting a new ship, he didn't even bother to explain all the whys which made usopp believe he had been wrong about luffy as a person.

i know most people blame usopp for that mess of a situation but to me, it's 100% on luffy. not a good moment for him...
