Riboku using a vastly inferior general in Houken for his strategies is a negative on Riboku, because the vastly inferior general is not Riboku's LT. However, Ouki using the vastly superior general Tou to take out leading officers of an army is completely fine.

Tou didn't save Ouki?? Bro really missed Bayou huh. Moubu & Tou are the primary reason Ouki was able to make his escape instead of dying in an army surrounded. Who knows how many other times, Ouki used Tou or got bailed out. We've only had 1 campaign of Ouki-Tou, in which Ouki used Tou to slay the head-commanding officer of the opposing army + then Tou comes in to rescue him.

Duke Hyou vs Riboku? Nope, Houken was already there, Riboku didn't need any saving. If Houken wasn't there, Riboku either would've just fell back and made Duke pursure him into the Ryuudou more or would've changed the strategem. You keep making it seem like Riboku had no other way out.

Against Gekishin?? Nope, the entire plan was to low-diff Gekishin by overwhelming him with himself + Houken + Keisha.
Coalition?? Nope, mans didn't do jackshit except delay a retreat.
WZI? Nope, mans didn't do jackshit except delay Riboku's retreat.

So I ask, where is the "Houken saved Riboku" coming from? Give me the specific scenario where Riboku is cornered and saved by Houken. Where Houken coming in is not part of Riboku's plan. Where Riboku isn't luring mfs in by using Houken. The term "saved" implies that one is in risk of losing their life or battle...and in none of the situations that's the case.


PS: There is no such thing called "Riboku army" idk where you came up with that. He has his handful of vassals, that's about it. The entire army of Zhao was Riboku's army, that's what it means to be Chief of Military, a position higher than a mere general or Great General.

In terms of open warfare, like traditional army vs army warfare, Riboku has said himself that he would lose to commanders like Renpa so in traditional engagements there are better commanders than Riboku.

But those scenarios are few and far between. Riboku is so dangerous because he not be able to win the battle but he will win the war. We literally have not seen a single commander definitively beat Riboku in a contest of strategy, not even once. The only times Riboku was defeated were at Sai, where in Shobunkun’s own words, “not even King Sho himself could have done to Sai what Ei Sei did”, and at Gyou.

Riboku’s defeat at Gyou was more due to the Zhao arresting him before he could see the battle to its conclusion. Had Riboku not been arrested, he could’ve stopped Ousen from getting reinforcements which resulted in a Qin genocide and an overwhelming Riboku victory. In addition, Ousen only beat Riboku at Shukai Plains because Ousen had the better subordinates, but I don’t see you downplaying Ousen for not being able to beat Riboku head on without subordinates to win the battle for him, lol. On top of this, the move to catch Riboku off guard from the south was Shouheikun’s, not Ousen’s.

So yeah, we have yet to see a single campaign where Riboku has lost, and this includes Gian where Riboku defeated an army literally led by 3 of the 6GG and killed one of them outright.

Trying it incorrectly insist that Riboku’s opponents would’ve beaten him in impossible scenarios, even if you were correct which again you aren’t, doesn’t change the fact that Riboku is the undisputed strongest general in the manga. Ouki has called him such, Renpa has called him such, Gyou’Un has called him such, literally every credible source in the book believes Riboku is the best commander we have ever seen.

I was already hyped for this war from that narrative box, but now that Seika main man is here then it reached unknown levels !

BTW, you fellas are hilarious about doubting Shin. Shin is Qin's John Wick.

Everytime I think of how much weight the Great Heaven title holds, I recall Futei getting swatted off of his horse by a heavily wounded Ouhon

It’s a good thing Zhao will fall before Futei ever gets a chance to hold the rank lol. Futei fighting Ringyoku was actually descent, Ringyoku’s skill was probably on par with your average martial general, but there just isn’t enough time left in the lifespan of Zhao for Futei to ever make the 3GH rank lol. Futei needs like another decade of improvement to be in the GG realm

Riboku is who he is because he can stand on equal grounds with the best of great generals and the most devious of statesmen. He is dangerous because he stormed the land out of nowhere and claimed Ouki's soul after a stunt that can only be replicated by a man of a hidden identity and extraordinary talent.


That doesn't necessarily mean he's a stronger general than Ouki, but he's certainly a more dangerous man. Riboku was a great villain at some point but Hara for no reason decided to turn his retainers to cringy yes men, and Riboku into a karen who wants to fix Kanki and understand his emotions, like dude 💀

That said Riboku still remains as #2 general in the manga after Hakuki, history can't go wrong

Riboku has not been a well written character since the Zhao invasion started, he's basically a Shanks level gary stu. Fodder Zhao yes men don't make it any tolerable. Also Kaine, fuck Kaine.

All that said, Shibashou will fix this arc so no worries
