If you understand that zoro is vice captain then congrat some still think its up in the air and there is nothing that can be done for them since the author cant convince them either. You know for a fact that even if Oda allowed for liberties with the live action, that means it applies to the source material? No.

It is simply a matter of fact that Zoro is not the first mate, not the second in the command, and not the vice captain. You can debate that with Oda if you like, but the man has neither said nor written as much.
