There never was much tension in OP tbh.
That's not trying to downplay OP, it's just the reality.
Literally all arcs (outside of the Sabaody/Impel Down/Marineford saga) have the same formula:
1) Land on a new island
2) meet the local hero (oftentimes a young female)
3) learn about their problems and the bad guys
4) confront the bad guys a first time and fail
5) flashback (showing the hard past of the local hero)
6) go up against the bad guys again and win
7) banquet and end of the arc
We always knew that they will defeat the bad guys in each arc. We also always knew the general formula, how it will happen and that nobody ever dies or suffers severe consequences.
That's not trying to downplay OP, it's just the reality.

It hurts my soul reading all your hopes, expectations and wishes for the future of this arc, but considering the writing in these past 73 chapters, i would not be shocked at all if they pull through this on Onigashima.
Additionally, none of this is my "hope, dreams and wishes", these are clear facts Oda presented in the story and has yet to resolved. Much of it isn't at Onigashima or the timeframe doesn't fit Hawkins statements.
I also expect other players to find their way for Wano or Onigashima for the final battle such as the marines or the CP0 or Weevil.
My opinion about Luffy vs Kaido is that there will be three rounds against Kaido just like against Crocodile and Katakuri with Luffy being crushed the first time, him faring much better but still being beaten in the second round and finally winning in the third fight.

I like the idea of the Raid failing and the battle spread throughout the entire Wano.
To be honest, if this poses to look bigger than Marineford then they can't fight on only one island especially if there are more people who can potentially show up. If everyone keeps showing up at the Onigashima it will be too cramped.
