Goofy performance is truly asschek when you consider that on top of that Kizaru was still focused on his mission, even saying he can't keep getting distracted. He might not even have landed the hit in another situation.

Dude only landed a hit last chapter on luffy because luffy had to save VP by eating a beam .
This thing work both ways maybe luffy won't have so much issues if did not have try and save VP 3 fucking times .
Or chase after Kizaru for the whole fight once again like this chapter .

It much harder to protect someone than kill them .

I wouldn't be surprised if both Luffy & Kizaru are absent for most of the next chapter so Oda can focus on Saturn for some bit. Then Luffy gets up and Kizaru arrives next to them. Saturn then tells Kizaru to forget about Vegapunk and that capturing/beating Straw Hat is his new mission.
Let's be honest, the jump cover made undisputable who Luffy's opponent is in this arc (if it wasn't already obvious) and Saturn is clearly going to face Vegapunk/Iron giant for some major lore bombs
