Honestly, Luffy probably didn't bother much. I hope he didn't ko her because he didn't take her seriously, otherwise all of Luffy's training has been for absolutely nothing.
Nope, Luffy has not usef Gear 2nd once since Udon Prison, because he would anniahalate Apoo, Page one and Ulti quickly. He also has not used Advanced Arnament Haki or Future sight once since preparing for the raid.
When Yamato says he was waiting for Luffy there should be a deeper meaning behind it.
Feels like he knows that Luffy and the Straw Hats are something special and he either wants to help them in liberating Wano or stop them from doing so.
My prediction is, he's probably been lurking around every corner of Wano and knows a lot about the backstory. Including the Kozuki Clan or Odens adventures with Roger. And maybe he knows about the 20 year prophecy. Unlike Kaido.
