General & Others What roles are the strawhats missing?

:gonope:

He’s the combatant and master swordsman of the group

I don’t think mihawk himself would ever really join tbh. I do think s-hawk could potentially a fun addition as an apprentice tho

I’d rather know who you’re talking about before making a bet lol. If you want to talk about that it should probably be in the nakama thread tho

You could technically say that about most roles on the crew. Technically they can all fight, cook, navigate, sing, or helm the ship but oda still finds ways to make each role feel like it’s necessary. Like nobody thought having a helmsman is ever going to be useful since anyone can technically do it but not everyone can do it like Jinbe

First mate and vice captain aren’t the same role tbf
Like you said cabaji was chief of staff. Also laffitte was chief of staff even when the Blackbeard pirates were just a group of 5. You don’t need a large group to have one
I thought you would want to see Mihawk and Boa joining - whereas, if I could choose between both, I would choose Boa. She seems to have more going for her.

Personally, I think it will be Lucci (I found so many hints pointing towards him - but no one seems to really put much weight into my hints anyway. :few:. But I heavily think it's going to be this arc that he joins. Now that we are only missing the last 11th SHP, and we are nearing the 1100th and 1111th chapter, I think Oda will use this chance to play a little with the numbers here.

They need HR manager to manage contracts. Usopp's role should end in dismissal. He's current role is there only to remind everyone that Kizaru couldn't one shot him. But perhaps Usopp could be HR manager.

Next role: Project Manager.
A strong crew will be well organized like Buggy's and it will have members that understand business principles, can create and guide projects and assign roles in said projects.
Good project management will allow the SHP to organize and coordinate better to avoid useless filler chapters when Luffy chases Kizaru like a retard after throwing him away. Instead we could have a crew member that reminds Luffy he should stop goofing around and just snap Kizaru's neck off.
I would demonstrate with a video on how to clean small birds, but it will probably be removed. All Luffy had to do is pull Kizaru's head away from the body.
Kidd would be best suitable for that since he understands the business of finishing off your fodder opponents as we saw in Shank's future sight. A good project manager ensures the timely delivery of a project and Kidd has more than proved himself.

Having said that clearly SHP needs a good PR manager. They obviously need to maintain good relations with others and also a good image for that goal. Law could fulfill that role well.

The biggest issue is that Luffy is an emperor without an Island. He should establish EggHead as the start of his new kingdom and assign VegaPunk as his chief scientist.

1. Usopp - HR Manager
2. Kidd - Project Manager
3. Law - PR Manager
4. VegaPunk - Chief Scientist

5. Kizaru - Lightbulb / Latrine at night time at sea. Scout when reaching new land.

Someone who is documenting what luffy discovers. Since we’ve learned that the worlds news organization is a biased source that lies for the sake of entertainment, there needs to be an honest record of what Luffy finds so the world can discover the truth.
- Likely to be Sabo

Courtesy of @evnsater it was shown that one of the reasons the crew got BTFO'd by the shark beginning of Egghead was because no one was watching the water or keeping a lookout while Luffy, Chopper, and Bonnie were flying away.
After gaining enough distance Bonney saw it and called it out but a combination of it being too late and the crew not being able to hear her anyway it lead to the Sunny getting sunk

If they had a certain someone keep an eye and an ear out they would've never been in danger

I don’t think lookout is an actual role tbh. Tho it’d probably fall under ship guard
The man bathed in the sun, apostle of nika, with the hands of liberation, and future protecter of the thousand sunny. @Paperchampion23
:pepebusi:
He already did it for 2 years while the rest of the strawhats were separated

I think it’d be cool if the 4 seraphim on egghead represented the last 4 to join in the new world.
Jinbe already being a member, kuma having potential imo but maybe not in his original body, and same with Hancock and maybe mihawk (but not the actual mihawk himself)

Between the original versions yeah I’d pick Hancock too tbh

Lucci is definitely an out there option but I can’t judge much at all lol. Since I currently think kuma, snake, and hawk would be cool

And the Vice Captain lol
No he isn’t tho
Until someone officially gets the role nobody is

I wonder, where the Seraphim will actually end up after this arc. :bamathink:

Since Saturn is probably going down this arc and probably won’t be able to take them maybe the seraphim will be split between the groups.
Like 100% random speculation but
  1. Snake and hawk - strawhats
  2. Bear - Bonney
  3. Shark - vegapunk
Lol, as usual you ignore the facts, Zoro is factually the Vice Captain, all the portraits, panels and parallels state this.
The fact is nobody has been given the vice captain role
Zoro has officially only been listed as the combatant and master swordsman. Thinking he’ll eventually get the position isn’t the same as pretending it’s his current position

A great navigator is completely essential for the Grand Line, especially if you're aiming for the One Piece. Strong combatants are indispensable too. A good cook is a boost, but it's indeed unneeded (although Sanji's cooking skills were crucial for the strawhats' survival in the WCI arc)... the same goes for the helmsman (but Jinbe was a key factor in WCI too). You're right... a sniper, for example, is skippable, but Usopp had his shining moments too (using his sniping skills or not).

I personally think that the characters are more essential due to their particular traits rather than their roles. Ironically, the ones with the most important roles (Nami, Chopper and Robin) are having a rough time post-skip in terms of story/character development.

Nami is chief of staff, Momo was the apprentice, vice captain is zoro and shipguard is whoever perceives any threat first through CoO.

Yes oda can make any role feel important and necessary. Yeah all the strawhats are more than just their roles it’d be the same for any new addition

Like vivi momo doesn’t have a role on the ship and doesn’t even travel with them
Most the stawhat positions can also be done by others tho albeit not at the same level
