Stop with nonsense already Kaido is not the strongest , he never was or will be he was just hyped as next villain , he got defeated he is gone now. We already were there with Whitebeard and even before. Stop taking those statements literally manga called Don Krieg as strongest in the world 4 times its manga fact Don Kreig > Kaido

There is nothing new here, imo. It may be an L for those who denied this and grasped onto straws.
However, I do think that Mihawk is stronger than Kaido regardless of this translation.
Even deathbed Whitebeard has been repeatedly called the strongest man despite obviously not being that.

Zoro referred to Mihawk as the strongest power in the world in chapter 51, long before Whitebeard and Kaido were created.
And Mihawk holds the strongest weapon in the world which is a result of the strongest haki in the world.
And he is the last of the 3 World's Strongest and awaits the green beast to lift his haki above everyone else's.

Yes, but what do you have to say about these significant errors in the translations?

You cant compare WBs situation to Kaido, WB was on his deathbed as you said, he was dying and sick and he himself said he cant be the strongest forever.

Kaido on the other hand was healthy, in his prime and repeatedly stated himself that he was the strongest. He wasnt doubting it.

I think he's equal to Kaidou imo
Extreme diff either way

Japanese is gramatically vastly different than any Western language, a lot of things can be said in similar ways but have different meanings based on the general connotation and context.

This is why they have bunch of ways to say "I", because even though all have same meaning, conotations are vastly different (i.e., "boku" is generally used by boys while "ore" is a very impolite/egoistical way of saying "I")

You can see similar problem with translation of this panel even in the spoiler thread, as some imply one, some the other.

However, I find TDA's note to be interesting:
For the sake of transparency, according to MShadows who lives in Japan and is fluent, Zoro refers to Kaido as the World's Strongest in a sort of mocking way:

Zoro: I have come here to cut down the so called “strongest in the world” Kaido!!!

Even if "so called" is not a literal term used, based on which kanji or specific word constructed through hiragana/katakana in the context of sentence, it can be implied (hence the "sort of mocking way" mentioned by TDA)

At the end of the day, it simply isn't possible to fully appreciate the work when being consumed in a completely different culture and a different language.

It may be an L for those who denied this and grasped onto straws.
However, I do think that Mihawk is stronger than Kaido regardless of this translation.
The irony...

Going to be funny if Kaido is still alive just to be be a hypetool for someone else like I suspect.
Do you think Kaido is capable of still being alive even after receiving hundreds of blows, and even a punch the size of an island coated with all three types of haki? And after that, he took a natural magma explosion after diving deep into magma for a while? LOL.

Man, I'm giving up on reading in English on a weekly basis because there are literally significant distinctions between translations. It has reached the point where one official translator is exposing the official translation of the other..

Stephen Paul has been adding words like "They say" when they don't exist in the sentence. LMAO.
Yeah good job on this.. It's not news to me though, i got some knowledge of Japanese and always go check the raws to make sure of what's being said.. There's tons of errors everywhere..

It's so Obvious that Kaido>Mihawk.. Even with poor translation it was obvious, Killer also confirmed it..

One big that comes to mind right now is Kouzaburo speaking about Cursed Blades.. He's not saying that they aren't Cursed(with power), he's saying that's just what Meitos are..

Yes, but what do you have to say about these significant errors in the translations?
There will always be errors in them. I dont know if native Japanese would be able to perfectly convey Oda's intention let alone others...
Surely, if we find definitive proof for them being incorrect we should always point them out, especially in this fandom that overanalyzes every word in the hope it will match their agenda... Kaido is a beast, doubting him was never a wise idea.
Mihawk fans were ultimately right but they never had any concrete evidence against Kaido, it was only agenda.

I understand but you should also understand that Mihawk is the one who remains and is saved for the very finale and was referred to as the Strongest Power in the World long before Kaido and WB and now we are making a full circle, coming back to him.
Kaido's words >Haki conquers everything are literally Mihawk's hype tool and hint for him being the strongest if haki to forge the strongest weapon in the world wasnt enough of evidence...

I think he's equal to Kaidou imo
Extreme diff either way
Willpower is supreme in this show but DF users are getting the spotlight first.
The finale is between the 2 greatest hakimen that ever existed and nobody will be equal to them, imo.

There is no irony. I was respecting Kaido as the strongest until very recently until I found proof for him not being the strongest.
Ask any Kaido fan that I was arguing for him the whole time.

Yes, I found it strange that Kid and Killer were literally stating in one chapter that Kaido is the most powerful pirate in the world, and in the next chapter, Oda has Zoro saying, "They say." So, I went to verify this with an official translator, and he confirmed that neither the words "They say" nor "Man" are present in Zoro's speech. LMAO.

Not to mention that in Kaido's introduction, all translators, even teachers, translate it differently from the version published in English by VIZ.

So, basically, Stephen is writing his own manga, just using Oda's panels to avoid the trouble of drawing the manga.

Idk you may be right honestly but for now I have Mihawk Kaidou and Dragon as the top dogs of this era
All 3, to me, are equal/relative
But Mihawk may be revealed to be the strongest, who knows.
