Looking at how he act toward trans and speak, this was a legitimate question. The guy is bigoted like hell, it was totally plausible that he actually didn't understand what "trans" means and that he can come from forced transitionning.

Furthemore, I've never heard about a trans people who stopped identifying as the opposite gender during their life although I might lack the ressources, hence why I asked if he were identifying as the opposite gender assign at birth then and now.
