Character Discussion Oda tries so hard to make the celestial dragons look evil. Its not good writing.

That would have been super boring and everyone would have seen that twist a mile away.
Evil can just be blatantly evil and I think it's fine to keep hammering it in because we don't see them often we can go hundreds of ch without seeing celestials so reminders that they suck is fine especially since bringing them down is so important to the story.
How is this a childish portrayal of evil?

THose things are just logical symptom of their status. Those guys were made to believe that they are gods and that - like fascists - any others type of being were lesser than insects. So of course they will do those things.

In reality and in that context, the majority of celestial Dragon should be rooting for genocide and not even take the time to take a foot on the surface.

The reason people called BS on Armin and the other Paradis traitors was because the rest of the world is clearly out to get them, massively outnumbering them and much more technologically advanced.
Titans are the only leverage Paradis have, and they got rid of it without ensuring their survival.

Some people here slept through their world history classes... The Mongols, Namking, Hitler, Spartan/Helots, several crusades and generally, the wretched fate of the conquered. Like why do you think the Gorosei have conquistador names?!

Not to soapbox or anything, but there are ongoing genocides and child soldiers right now. 200~ years ago White people in the US could literally buy black people, and force them to carry more slave children (which they regularly did). Holy hell, to this day some of the rich and powerful do their finest Celestial Dragon impression on their massive yachts with trafficked women.

Oda is destroying his worldbuilding. One Piece was based on the Age of Piracy and there was some slavery in that era but the primary task of government wasn't to enforce slavery through the Navy and that's why in real life you there were good Navel Officers and the good Marines, like Garp, are based on those people. But now in One Piece, the goal of the World Govt. is explicitly to enable the CD's oppression so in this world the goal of Navy is to enforce slavery and genocide and so why would any decent person join the Navy? Oda has deviated to far from reality and now his world is starting to implode.

You Guy are forgetting That we are witnessing multiple genocide right now done by people Who are dehumanizing the victims and saying That they are the most moral of all.
