I literally heard a radio interview where an Israeli woman pointed this out, a few weeks ago when it was just a suggestion. "Good, we'll kill them when we get our hostages back."
Truly a boogeyman moment in a war that deals with human lives as currency in a "business deal" that stems from religious conflicts and land grabs.
The majority of terrorism happens against immigrants rather than the opposite, or they're just domestic for the fuck of it.
Anti-muslim sentiments are going to skyrocket due to that initial Oct 7 attack. Since majority of the population in Palestine never denounced the terrorist attack that got spread as news, it's almost a given that the ones who harbor anti-muslim views become incensed over this.

When rage and hate build up, that aggression is going to be taken out against someone. When it happens, it's towards the people that follow a religion preached by the perpetrators.

Anyone here believe that Hamas' leadership made some sort of deal with a powerful political entity/group beforehand such that they would receive financial (or any other material benefit/influence) compensation through the back door?

A sudden random terrorist attack that leads to (a clearly obvious) disproportionate response from the opposing side that follows a predominantly different religion seems unsound as a military and political strategy.

Under Biden, the US has seen a whopping total of two wars which were meant to divide people based on politicial, national, and religious differences. The untold billions that were sent overseas that could very well have been directed towards mitigating some of the major issues that are affecting the people living in the US who are forced to knock on wood. As heartless as this sounds, the citizens living in the US should be the primary recipients of the financial resources that the US government has available.

But, y'know... you mention the religion of Hamas and I don't want to give such a point any weight.

My own compassion for Ukraine has kinda come back on me. Not that I'm against giving money to anyone in turmoil, but we've been talking about billions and billions, with no end in sight for these fronts. Potentially new fronts, and as badly as I want support for Gaza no one will reduce spending for Israel to make that happen, so that's just more money. No one expected us to be in self preservation mode and with Ukraine we just guaranteed that we'd be giving out all sorts of money

Governments have millions to spend on warfare and no money to pay decent wages, give shelter to the homeless, fix the education system and invest in accessible public transportation.πŸ€‘πŸ€‘πŸ€‘πŸ€‘πŸ€‘πŸ’©πŸ’©πŸ’©πŸ’©πŸ’©

Even conspiracy theories can turn out to be true at least some of the time.

It's always handy to be prepared for those surprise moments when the suspicions turn out to be true.
