He’s absolutely a main antagonist and I think he will be the main antagonist in Elbaf; but I mean power wise he’s not going to be trashing the other admirals.

One power up against Sakazuki (Will of D bullshit) perfect that power up against Blackbeard
Then Bullshit powers against Imu.
I mean yeah thats understandable. The thing that people argue up and down over is this idea that Admirals cant be stronger than any YC but weaker than a Yonko. I mean we essentially see comparators like this in Marineford:
- Kizaru/Aokiji "defeat" Marco and Joz (albeit yes, they were distracted). Marco is still active after since he was only handcuffed.
- Akainu matches WB but then gets jumped on after killing Ace. However he doesnt lose since he still was active after that fight.
I think its very clear that Akainu is relative to Blackbeard/Shanks in the least. Some exceptions to this are probably Shiryu (considered BBs number 2 even after Kuzan joins) and Beckman in some fashion.
But yes I agree with the take that Akainu is central to Elbaf after the events of Egghead. Imo thats where it makes sense for the Marines (as it currently exists) to fall.
Edit: This is why (if you ignore powerscaling rhetoric) it makes sense that Akainu goes down next in the least because:
- Mr 3 lead to Crocodile 2 arcs later
- Caesar/Vergo lead to Doflamingo the following arc
- Jack and Katakuri lead to Kaido/Big Mom the following arc respectively.
Im not 100% sure Saturn goes down this arc (i.e. he could be a taster for endgame events), but if Kizaru does, then it ostensibly makes sense that Akainu and the other Admirals are focused on next or at least very soon.
Imo, either a big war is coming between all Yonko and Marines or the Marines will have their own separate conflict first. Something has to give here.
