Questions & Mysteries Egghead was Saturn and Kuma's arc but what about the other Gorosei?

I mean yeah thats understandable. The thing that people argue up and down over is this idea that Admirals cant be stronger than any YC but weaker than a Yonko. I mean we essentially see comparators like this in Marineford:

- Kizaru/Aokiji "defeat" Marco and Joz (albeit yes, they were distracted). Marco is still active after since he was only handcuffed.
- Akainu matches WB but then gets jumped on after killing Ace. However he doesnt lose since he still was active after that fight.

I think its very clear that Akainu is relative to Blackbeard/Shanks in the least. Some exceptions to this are probably Shiryu (considered BBs number 2 even after Kuzan joins) and Beckman in some fashion.

But yes I agree with the take that Akainu is central to Elbaf after the events of Egghead. Imo thats where it makes sense for the Marines (as it currently exists) to fall.

Edit: This is why (if you ignore powerscaling rhetoric) it makes sense that Akainu goes down next in the least because:

- Mr 3 lead to Crocodile 2 arcs later
- Caesar/Vergo lead to Doflamingo the following arc
- Jack and Katakuri lead to Kaido/Big Mom the following arc respectively.

Im not 100% sure Saturn goes down this arc (i.e. he could be a taster for endgame events), but if Kizaru does, then it ostensibly makes sense that Akainu and the other Admirals are focused on next or at least very soon.

Imo, either a big war is coming between all Yonko and Marines or the Marines will have their own separate conflict first. Something has to give here.
I’m still of the Gorosei + Sakazuki being next arc. I think it’s the best place to fit Sakazuki in power wise, but also just the best thematically for him as Sakazuki is very similar to the destroyer of worlds in Norse Myth.

And with the fall of an admiral and possibly a gorosei, really seems like a god excuse to send out Sakazuki and the others.

Hmm, personally I can agree with the Marines, but not the Gorosei there. I cant get behind your CG theory lol. I dont see them leaving Imu's side if Saturn falls or not.

Personally i would love if the gorosei start falling, in my own headcannon saturn dies here but ultimately succeeds in getting the seraphim to go to maryjoa. After this arc each gorosei will fall and by the end imu will replace them

I am putting all my bets in on nasujuro being involved with wano hopefully he goes there and makes us go back to defend it.
It’s a common trope in anime/manga to see strong figures/commanders/generals falling one by one after failing to clean up the mess then the final boss decide to come out in frustration to face the protagonist which is Imu as the last one standing in Marijois.

That’s why I don’t think they will fall at the same time and not see their backstories so whoever is in Elbaf has to be only one that has a history with one of the characters like Saturn and Kuma. Then Nusjuro and Zoro’s clan in Old Wano country and so on.

Poor Jack the Dragdown was done dirty by Oda. Gave him the ugliest hybrid form too.

OT: I don’t think that there’s that many arcs left for the Gorosei to be falling one by one. The dehype factor is also simply inevitable when they’re so similar.
It makes the most sense for them to fall either simultaneously or not far removed from each other.

That’s why I’m still not on the “Saturn must be defeated here” train, especially with how mysterious the connection with Imu & immortality surgery bits are. It loses all impact if it can be dealt with so relatively easily as an aside in an escape mission.

I dont know why Oda chose Saturn to be introduction to Gorosei (or maybe we can intuit that, considering his design + Oda being a conspiracy theorist,if you know what i mean :saturn:) but i think in this arc we got to know them better, but the rest of them will be endgame material (and maybe Saturn too if he doesnt get defeated here).
are you saying the gorosei are who's

Akainu is a main antagonist guys.....

How is this idea even being floated that he's just a stepping stone lmao. This is how the New World was essentially introduced:

Why are we just plainly ignoring narrative?

Ah I remember when this chapter dropped circa 2011-12...

Good times man
