nah man you're outright wrong on this

Two Adult men having a relationship was frowned up. The bottom was viewed as a second class citizen like women.

The go to insults at the time were always "lol he's gay". You can find plenty of rumors of Julius Caesar being gay used to discredit him.

The emperor who took a boy wife? Also super controversial and not look good upon by Roman historians.

In fact you ever heard of the "trans emperor"? Well a lot of scholars think that's bullshit, and it's mainly propaganda used to discredit a widely unpopular emperor

Ancient Rome was super homophobic. It's is the ancient equivalent of "Oh I don't mind gay people, but if they're gay around me its a problem" with a little bit of sex slavery, pedophilia and fucked up gender/role dynamics.
Its hipocrisy. The bottom was gay,but the active wasn't. Romans were in denial about being gay.

There’s a reason public figures are often portrayed as homosexual by their political enemies lol.

Greece/Rome being a haven for sexual liberation is a modern myth. Though I do think there’s more evidence for homosexual relations in the Roman Empire than in all of the Hellenic states.

yeah,it is a myth, but there were still plenty of gay going on...Gay was never the standard anywhere.

the idea of being "gay" just wasn't a thing back then. It was top(masculine role) and bottom(feminine role)

If you want to apply modern standards to it then sure, I guess they were gay. They were also slavers and pedophiles.
I know,gay is an English word.Bottom or top doesn't matter,its still same sex relationship,therefore gay/homosexual.

I learned history across 15 years of my education and Rome is one my favourite eras of history. Rome was heavy on gay stuff no matter if it was women women or man man action. Rome was insanely sexually free and open, on equal standing as today sexual stuff is.

But hey, let's see what an experts says

Stop the cap, Rome and Greece were gay as fuck
She’s very much taken in by modern bias lol. She singles out Nero as one of the worst emperors—which is literal slander he got from his contemporaries and later Christian writing.

Doesn’t mention Caligula, who depleted the notably stingy Tiberius’ treasury of 17 years in just 4. Doesn’t mention Otho, Vitellius, Commodus, any of the children emperors, Caracalla or Geta, not even Honorius (cursed be his name).

She also has a very retarded take on civil war and says she doesn’t like any Emperor because “they’re an autocrat” when the question was “who is the objectively best Emperor,” 😂.

Biographics has better content on Roman Emperors.
