I'd say the later. His spirit medium abilities revolve around summoning abilities of spirits so I'd guess he's summoning the abilities of the dead Nanami.

It's beyond anything he had shown before but I guess it's been a long time since we saw him do anything so it fits.

Yeah, affinity is likely very important.

Infinity without six eyes or insane CE probably would wear out fast even if he could summon it. Nanami's ability doesn't seem very taxing.

Yes I just added things that's all overall this era is gonna beat a stronger version of heian sukuna era

But I don't think Geto as special grade would lose that easily

And Yuki can't prob beat a open domain

But in defense for Mahito take into account that he couldn't use DE due Sukuna and Todo another 1+ Grade Socerer helped a lot

Mahito > Yuji even after their fight

Nobara, Sukuna and Todo played a gooood part in Yuji victory
