Oda literally hinted multiple time during Egghead the fact that Kuma despite his supposed death, was able to have a will strong enough to go to (what we think is) his daughter.

This scene is here to makes us empathize with Vegapunk and the fact that he think that Kuma will probably never rise again. Its not a bait, we are truly feeling those emotion and we will keep feeling them, even if Kuma comes back.

The fact of Kuma being able to come back from death itself just for his daughter would be an amazing thing also.
Eh oda already has S-Bear seem like the new kuma even giving him a way of acquiring kumas memories through Bonney.

Kumas mind is probably gone. I’m sure he’ll have one moment of clarity like Cindry did, but Kuma isn’t going to fully return in that body.

That would just ruin the emotional impact of this flashback if Vegapunk could just do that tbh
That's something a lot of people missunderstand about storytelling. Just like Poud coming back doesn't affect the story, Kuma coming back doesn't ruin anything.

The impact of a death scene doesn't come from death. Its comes from EMPATHY. The reason this flashback work so well is not because Kuma faces a lot of struggle, its because we EMPATHIZE with him in front of those struggle. Same thing here, the impact of the scene don't come from the "death" itself, it comes from the empathy we feel toward Vegapunk doing something he doesn't want to do.

THis empathy, just like in the case of Pound, will not disappear once Kuma comes back. That's why One Piece is so rereadable. Even after death come back, we still feel for the character that we empathize with during those moments.

Vegapunk was literally in tears crying because of what he had to do. There’s no way he implimented this into kuma would feel way too fake.
Its possible that Vegapunk is not sure if it will work or not. But even without that, at his place I would still be devastated to have to do such a thing and lose a friend.

Vegapunk didn’t put that in Kuma. He could’ve put it in the Seraphim like S-Bear; but actual kuma isn’t coming back.

A minor moment of clarity, sure that’s fine. But completely reverting to normal? That doesn’t make much sense. Kuma can live on in S-Bear but PX-0 is finished
